Jon Bon Jovi’s wife has reportedly been released from the hospital after slicing her hand in a kitchen accident.

Dorothea Hurley was chopping vegetables in the couple’s New York City home at 11:30 a.m. Saturday when the blade of the knife cut her left palm, the New York Daily News reports.

A source told the newspaper she began “bleeding heavily” and was driven to Beth Israel Medical Center for treatment.

It was unclear at press time if Bon Jovi was at the couple’s SoHo home at the time of the incident, although a source told the New York Post’s PageSix gossip column it was her husband who called 911.

The newspaper reports Dorothea received stitches and was released a few hours later.

The couple had not responded to the report at press time.

Bon Jovi, who celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with Dorothea on April 29, gushed last week about her in an interview with USA Today.

He credits his spouse with helping him to realise his dreams of creating JBJ Soul Kitchen, a community restaurant run by his charitable foundation where patrons volunteer their labour or donate $10 for a meal.

"Dorothea and I started to have a conversation, and we volleyed ideas back and forth. People have a roof over their heads, but now they gotta eat. We thought it was a great idea. The definition of our mission became clear only with time, and a year of the experiment,” he said.

The rocker also emphasised the importance he places on family and giving back.

"Some journalists tell me, 'You're not very rock 'n' roll.' If all they think is that I should throw a TV out the window, then I'm not interested in talking to them. I don't live the cliché, rock star life,” he said.
