Taylor Swift is "so sad" her Thailand concert has been cancelled.

The singer's Asia leg of the Red Tour kicks off on May 30 and she was set to perform in Bangkok on June 9. Today it was announced she will no longer be taking to the stage on the set date.

"I'm sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I'm so sad about the concert being canceled. (sic)," she apologised on Twitter.

Thailand came under military rule last week, with a curfew being imposed between the hours of 10pm and 5am.

No official reason was given for the concert cancellation, but promoter BEC-Tero posted on its website that it was down to "recent events in Thailand" and that it was "a difficult decision for all parties".

Taylor, 24, has been taking a short break from her tour since playing in London, England, in February.

The Asia shows kick off in Shanghai, China, on May 30 and will move through Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia before finishing up in Singapore on June 12.

It's not known who will be supporting the 22 songstress on this leg yet, but throughout the Red Tour she's invited acts including Ed Sheeran, The Vamps and Austin Mahone on stage.

She also surprised fans in London with special guests including Sam Smith and Ellie Goulding.

BEC-Tero also shared Taylor's message of apology on its official Facebook and Twitter page.

The star's fans generally responded positively, with one commenting: "you care about ur fans, that is why i love u (sic)"
