Ed Sheeran has today unveiled the official music video for his eagerly anticipated single ‘Sing’ exclusively on his Facebook page, giving his 6 million Facebook fans around the world the very first chance to see it.
The track is set for release on June 1 and is available to pre-order on iTunes now. It is the official first single to be taken from the Suffolk native’s forthcoming album “x”, due out on June 23.
The video was shot on location in LA recently and was directed by Emil Nava, who worked on several music videos from Ed’s debut album, including You Need Me…, Give Me Love and Lego House.
The new video for ‘Sing’ sees an alter-ego Ed puppet embark on a debauched night out, crashing a karaoke party in Korea town before stumbling onto a studio set, where the real Ed and track collaborator Pharrell Williams are in the middle of shooting the ‘Sing’ music video. Ed joins the puppet for the rest of the night out – watch below to find out what they get up to:
Ed says ‘‘It was a lot of fun shooting the video for ‘Sing’ and it’s awesome that I can share it with my fans first on Facebook. The puppet is definitely a lot wilder than me. I got to keep it afterwards, which is cool. No idea how to work it yet, there are a lot of moving parts, but I’ll get there with practice.’
Later this year, Ed will embark on a headline nationwide tour of the UK/Ireland for the first time since the Autumn 2012.
