Kanye West "adores" Florence and thinks his daughter was conceived there.

The rapper is preparing to marry his reality TV star fiancée Kim Kardashian on May 24, with reports yesterday suggesting the pair will tie the knot in the Italian city rather than in Paris as first thought.

Kanye has spoken of his deep love for Florence, admitting it has a lot of sentimental value to him.

"I adore Florence. I love Italy and the Italian lifestyle. To tell you the truth, I already came to the banks of the Arno [river] with Kim last year, just the two of us, incognito," he told Florence's La Nazione newspaper in an article published today.

"I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces. It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world -- for me the most beautiful in Europe."

North will celebrate her first birthday next month.

Although Kanye didn't confirm where his nuptials will take place, his comments have added fuel to the speculation that Florence will be the venue. According to People magazine, the couple will exchange vows at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence which is a 16th century fortress. It's thought they have spent 300,000 euros to hire it for the weekend, with guests being flown there by private jet after a dinner event in Paris on May 23rd.

While in the city Kanye has spent time with designer Ermanno Scervino, prompting speculation either he or Kim will wear something from the fashion house on their big day.
