Courtney Love is pleased to have the "ball rolling" on a Hole reunion.

The 49-year-old rocker is the frontwoman of the band, with Melissa Auf der Maur on bass, Eric Erlandson on guitar and drummer Patty Schemel. Their last record Nobody's Daughter came out to mixed reviews in 2010 and they are now tentatively discussing new songs.

"We're just doing a single at the moment and seeing what happens," she told Kerrang! magazine. "I'm talking with the rest of the band about what we can come up with in the next year or so. Nothing has been set in stone but we've definitely jammed and contacted our old management, so the ball is certainly rolling."

Last month marked the 20 year anniversary of Courtney's husband Kurt Cobain's death. The Nirvana frontman committed suicide in 1994, and fans all over the globe marked the important date by remembering him. The band were also finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Courtney was on hand for the occasion, as were Kurt's bandmates Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. She's had a famously acrimonious relationship with Dave over the years but they made up at the ceremony and it is now one of her favourite memories.

"The recent 20 year stuff has been really deep. It's been really good, though. I hadn't seen Krist [bassist] or Dave [Grohl] for 20 years! We were supposed to have meetings every month, but they never happened. I think we had a phone call once in, like, 1997. Seeing them was cathartic and really lovely," she said.

"It's amazing that we could take two decades of s**gging each other to the most extreme degrees and be done with it in one night... it's a testament to the memory."
