Simon Cowell thinks jealousy “means you care”.
The 54-year-old X Factor creator welcomed son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman on Valentine’s Day.
Simon revealed he is somewhat of a green-eyed lover, but he believes it’s a good idea to focus on what rivals are doing.
“It means you care. If you are not jealous of your competitors you are not going to win,” he revealed during an interview with hypnotist Paul McKenna on his new online programme.
“When I see a competing show doing well I feel physically sick. I don’t like my friends to do well!”
February was a huge month for Simon, as in addition to becoming a father for the first time, his X Factor US series was cancelled and he returned to the UK version of the show as a judge.
The Syco music mogul loves judging talent, as it brings him back to his youth.
“Auditions for me are like going back to school — and the only way I got through school was being really badly behaved,” he said.
Among Simon's many talent show successes are Brit boyband One Direction, who have become a global sensation.
He has recently spoke of his delight over the world’s interest in his TV programmes, despite the fact X Factor USA was cancelled.
"To be honest, it only spurs us on harder," he reasoned to the British edition of OK! magazine previously.
"On the bright side, it does tell you that people are still interested in these shows, thank god."
