Hilary Duff has laughed off reports she has a Scientologist symbol tattooed on her arm.

The 26-year-old actress and singer recently showed off a temporary tattoo on the inside of her bicep, prompting RadarOnline to speculate she was “rocking Scientology symbols”.

Buzzfeed followed suit, even creating a photo-heavy story directed at “saving” Hilary from the controversial religion famously followed by Tom Cruise.

But Hilary insists via Twitter an intervention isn’t necessary.

“My favorite moon is out tonight which is what [my] arm tattoo actually stands for in case anyone was confused,” Hilary tweeted late Thursday night.

The graphic body art features a thin line drawing of a crescent moon, two small triangles and an arrow.

Radar previously claimed the marking could be inspired by the "Affinity, Reality and Communication" triangle.

According to Scientology.org, the symbol "greatly assists interpersonal relationships” and offers "a greater understanding of life itself,” E! News reports.

Radar also speculated the tattoo could represent the religion’s "Knowledge, Responsibility and Control" triangle, as well as a rendition of the Scientology cross.

Fans laughed off the idea as well, with one Twitter follower writing the star: "You are SO hilarious, we know exactly what you are talking about," to which Hilary replied: "lol peeps be cray."

Hilary has dominated tabloid headlines recently in the wake of her split from husband Mike Comrie.

The couple announced they were ending their three-year marriage in January, although they have been seen together several times since.

The pair, who share two-year-old son Luca, made it clear they would continue to co-parent.

A representative for the actress stated at the time that they "have mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation.

They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."
