Ed Sheeran isn't worried about becoming a "fat slob".

The 23-year-old singer/songwriter has gained a mass following with his catchy harmonies and lyrics. Ed believes his appearance has nothing to do with the success of his music and is pleased he doesn't have to focus on that aspect of fame.

"I don't think I've ever sold records based on my looks, which is positive, cos it means that even if I do become a fat slob when I'm older, it won't matter," the ginger-haired musician grinned to British magazine Q.

One of his new tracks Take It Back addresses his looks, with the lines 'I don't ever want to be perfect, cause I'm a singer that you never want to see shirtless'. He also appears to insinuate at an intimate encounter with a fellow celebrity through the lyrics, 'Sleeping with a movie star and adding to the population'. When quizzed on who the famous lady is, Ed remain tight-lipped.

"I'm British so I have to be a gentleman in these situations and not say any names," he quipped. "But you know what? I spent a year in America and did what any young lad would, which is experience Hollywood life. I think it's the best way to put it..."

With his upcoming album x due for release later this year, Ed has gone in a new direction with his sound. Having made a name for himself in America over the years he hired the help of Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin to help produce his new record.

"I wanted to take full advantage of the opportunities that were given to me from the doors opened by the American success," Ed explained. "I had all these amazing producers that I wanted to try out."
