Kelis doesn't think about "stuff" that much as she isn't very "sensitive".

The 34-year-old singer's latest record is called Food and it was recorded live with a full band. Although that was a huge undertaking, Kelis insists she didn't lose any sleep over it.

"I think I'm a lot less precious than people want me to be. I don't really care to be honest. Not to sound crass, but I don't think that much about stuff, and I don't think I'm that sensitive," she told Time Out magazine. "I feel like I'm always myself in whatever instance or whatever realm I'm in - all of the other things are really just logistical."

In 2012 Kelis started work on a dance album with electronic producer Skream. Food has more of a soul vibe and she was quizzed on why she made such a massive change.

"I kind of lost interest. Well, I don't know if that's really the right phrase, but I sort of abandoned it," she said. "I no longer felt the need to make that record, and it's hard for me to go back to things. There are tons of things I've written that you'll never hear; that's just how it works."

Kelis and Skream released a track together called Copy Cat in 2012, but she publicly hit out at him when he didn't want her to appear in the accompanying promo. The singer had suggested photographer Rankin made the video, but she alleged the producer shot down that plan too.

"Good morning! So I woke up thinking about a video for copy cat. Problem is skream some how thinks I don't need to be in it. Does that make any sense at all? Hilarious, seriously," she wrote on Twitter.

"And friends it gets better, we all know Rankin is brilliant and a dear friend of mine. I wanted him to shoot the video, naturally.

"Skream in this alternate world he lives in also doesn't think that's a good idea! Lol that leaves me speechless (sic)!"
