Chris Martin doesn’t think life is easy for anyone.

The Coldplay musician recently separated from his wife Gwyneth Paltrow after being married for 10 years.

But Chris won’t guilt himself over the breakup, as he believes the split is something he can learn from.

“Everyone through their lives goes through challenges, whether it’s love, money or kids or illness,” the 37-year-old revealed during a Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe that airs next Monday.

Chris is preparing to release his band’s sixth album, Ghost Stories, in May.

Although the star loves rock’n’roll, he reveals he has a soft spot for pop.

“I’m saying One Direction are brilliant. I’m not kidding,” he declared.

Chris made his first major public appearance since announcing his and Gwyneth’s decision to “consciously uncouple” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York City two weeks ago.

At the occasion, the star was all smiles despite the furore over his separation from the actress.

“Chris looked awesome—tan, equally confident and approachable,” an onlooker noted to In Touch magazine at the time.

“He didn’t seem to be in the midst of such a scandal!”

The former couple made it clear they remain firm friends in the wake of their breakup. Along with their two children Apple, nine, and Moses, eight, the pair flew to the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas the day before announcing their separation, in order to avoid any public fallout from the news.
