Victoria Beckham will reportedly become an ambassador for a United Nations Aids charity.
The former Spice Girl is apparently set to be named as a goodwill ambassador for UNAids, following in the footsteps of previous ambassadors like Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai.
Victoria is said to have been struck by the plight of children battling the deadly disease on a trip to South Africa earlier this year, and wants to help the United Nations campaign with raising awareness.
“She wants to give back by doing what she can,” a source close to the singer told UK newspaper The Sun.
Victoria visited Cape Town in February as part of the Born Free initiative, tackling the issue of HIV being transmitted from mothers to their children.
The cause was obviously something the fashion designer cared deeply about, and she tweeted about it before heading for the city.
“Looking forward to meeting @bornfreeafrica in Cape Town to support the initiative to end mother to child HIV transmission x vb #JoinBornFree,” she said.
Victoria has four children with husband David Beckham - Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 11, Cruz, nine, and Harper, two. This no doubt made visiting Cape Town’s Children's Infectious Disease Clinical Research Unit even more poignant.
“It was a whirlwind trip, however Victoria was inspired and motivated by the wonderful people she met and will continue her support to help raise awareness of the objective to end mother to child transmission of HIV,” a spokesman for the star told UK newspaper The Daily Mail.
