Mariah Carey told Nick Cannon to "keep his big mouth shut" after he publicly discusses his former lovers.
Nick caused jaws to drop last week when he listed women he'd been intimate with in a video interview with Power 106's Big Boy. He claimed the whole purpose of living in Los Angeles is to "have sex with actresses, singers, models" and named Mariah, Christina Milian, Nicole Scherzinger, Selita Ebanks and Kim Kardashian as his exes.
He's now admitted his wife was less than impressed with his loose lips.
"'I thought I was being coy and cunning by naming someone or people that I actually was in a relationship with," he told Australian radio station 2Day FM. "The world knew these, these weren’t like names that, you know, I pulled out of a hat – these are people you’ve seen me on red carpets with, engaged, in love and all of that stuff, so wasn’t like it was new information.
"You know sometimes, as my wife says, sometimes I should just keep my big mouth shut."
In a separate interview, Nick once discussed reality TV star Kim. He poked fun at the number of relationships she's been in last week, and this time around he seemingly dismissed the level of fame she's achieved.
"Honestly, my wife, she doesn't even know who Kim Kardashian is," he told radio star Howard Stern. "She doesn't pay attention to that."
This is the latest controversy the star has been involved in of late. He donned 'whiteface' to promote his new record White People Party Music in the guise of fictional character Connor Smallnut, which some claimed could be viewed as racist.
Nick has dismissed those allegations and explained he was just trying to be controversial.
"It worked extremely well, it worked better than I actually had planned," he told 2Day FM.
"I’m a huge fan of people like Sacha Baron Cohen and Andy Kaufman and Johnny Knoxville and all these types of people who put themselves in awkward and uncomfortable positions and get kicked out of places and this is just another character to do that and to have fun with.
"And the people that were ultra-sensitive... I wasn’t trying to reach out to them anyway; they were kind of like pawns in my master game of chess that I was trying to do for the most elaborate April Fool’s joke ever."
