Kelly Rowland has rushed to the defence of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

The former Destiny’s Child singer has sided with the polarising couple in the wake of their controversial cover for US Vogue.

But Kelly thinks critics should just relax, because Kimye aren’t wasting their energy on them.

“I’m just happy for them. They seem very happy together, and that’s the most important thing. Leave ‘em alone! Just let them live their life!” she told Celebuzz.

“They’re not thinking about us. We need to just figure out ways to where we’re happy with our everyday lives… and leave them alone!,” she laughed.

Other stars wading into the controversy haven’t been so kind. Sarah Michelle Gellar infamously tweeted she would be cancelling her subscription to the fashion bible after seeing the rapper and reality star on the April 2014 cover. And Naomi Campbell laughed when asked about it during a television interview, declining to say exactly what she thought while insisting she wanted to be “politically correct”.

But Kelly insists she has nothing but well-wishes to send Kim and her fiancé.

“I’m happy for them, you know? I think getting the cover is a great, a great thing,” she added.

Kim, who is reportedly preparing for a May wedding with Kanye, is indeed brushing off their critics.

Appearing on America’s Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, she acknowledged the cover marked several milestones for the publication.

“Kanye’s the first rapper to be on, I’m the first reality star to be on, and we’re the first interracial couple [to be on the cover]," she said, adding, "It’s the biggest dream come true and I’m so honoured."

Kelly is meanwhile preparing for a wedding of her own.

The star announced her engagement to boyfriend-and-manager Tim Witherspoon back December and she’s looking forward to a low-key ceremony.

“I think we just really want it to be us and our pastor. That's it," she told People magazine at the time.

“I mean, we are the only two that's going to be in the marriage.”
