L’Wren Scott’s death has been “officially ruled as a suicide” by the medical examiner.
AP reported Wednesday the autopsy showed L’Wren, 49, died of hanging, according to city spokeswoman Julie Bolcer.
The former model and longtime partner of Mick Jagger was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Monday morning. She left no note.
As a result of the tragic incident, the Rolling Stones have cancelled their tour of Australia. Mick posted a message on both his website and Facebook page expressing his grief and pain at L’Wren’s untimely passing.
"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves,” he said. “She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her."
Mick’s bandmates have made it clear they are supporting him in this difficult time and will do whatever they can to make it easier.
In a statement released on March 19, Keith Richards said he hopes the fans understand why they had to cancel their tour.
"No one saw this coming," Keith said, according to Rolling Stone. "Mick’s always been my soul brother and we love him. We’re thick as thieves and we’re all feeling for the man. We really hate to disappoint our fans, but we’ll see everyone really soon."
"Needless to say we are all completely shocked but our first thought is to support Mick at this awful time," said Charlie Watts, while Ronnie Wood added, "This is such terrible news and right now the important thing is that we are all pulling together to offer Mick our support and help him through this sad time.”
