Mick Jagger has revealed he is “struggling to understand” the loss of his girlfriend L’Wren Scott.

The fashion designer died yesterday of a suspected suicide in her New York apartment.

Mick, 70, who had been in a relationship with the 49-year-old for 13 years before her passing, took to his Facebook page to express how he was feeling.

“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” he wrote alongside a picture of L’Wren.

“We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”

The Rolling Stones front man was told the devastating news yesterday while in Australia ahead of the legendary band’s string of concerts in the country.

They have since cancelled their first show which was set to take place in Perth on Wednesday.

Mick went on to thank the public for their understanding and support in the aftermath of the news.

“I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received,” he added. “I will never forget her.”

L’Wren’s body was reportedly found in her apartment by her assistant.

A source told FOX411 that she had been struggling personally and professionally for several years, and business records show her high-end fashion label was having financial issues.

L’Wren’s rep has asked for privacy for her family during this difficult time.
