Fergie is in "positive" talks to join the 'X Factor' judging panel.

The Black Eyed Peas singer is being lined up to complete a quartet of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and returning star Cheryl Cole, with show bosses are "excited" by the idea of landing another big name.

An insider told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "It's not a done deal just yet but things have been positive.

"Both sides are keen to move things forward and people at the show and ITV are excited at the prospect of having Fergie.

"She brings a lot to the show and her success globally with the Black Eyed Peas and her solo albums obviously speaks for itself. On top of that, she looks fantastic and fans love the glamour of the live shows."

Meanwhile, it is said reports Cheryl wanted to be the only female on the panel are off the mark - and it is claimed she "would love" to be joined by another woman on the show.

"She is very supportive of young women in showbiz and would love to have another female on her side."
