Taylor Momsen doesn't "understand" singers who perform other people's tracks.

The Pretty Reckless star prides herself on being unique and having a great deal of input into the band's work. The 20-year-old would have no interest in singing if that wasn't the case.

"There's no right way or wrong way. There's only your way. And, frankly, I wouldn't so this it if wasn't my music and my vision," she told Kerrang! magazine. "I don't understand how artists sing other people's songs. I have a voice and I have something to say and if it's not done my way, I'm not interested."

Taylor is in The Pretty Reckless with Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins. She remains the best known though, probably because she used to appear on US teen show Gossip Girl.

She appears naked on the cover of their upcoming album Going to Hell and the image has caused raised eyebrows. Taylor is facing away from the camera with the band's cross logo stretching down her back towards her butt. The star insists the picture has been misconstrued.

"The nudity came into play as a homage. But there's a lot of metaphor happening. We're saying, 'You come into this world with nothing but your soul, and you leave with nothing but your soul,'" she said.

"Tabloids exploiting it to create a headline is understandable. But I don't care about that and the fans don't care. It's not vulgar - it's a striking photograph."
