Paula Patton reportedly made up her mind that she was "done” with her marriage to Robin Thicke even though he was unsure.
Actress Paula and her musician husband announced their split on Monday, eight years after exchanging vows.
While Robin was apparently hopeful about their future, it’s been claimed Paula was adamant things were over for good.
"She is done with the marriage, but he was definitely fighting to stay together until the last moment. It is still cordial between them, but they are now figuring things out," an insider revealed to Us magazine.
"Robin wanted to save their marriage, but it was Paula's choice and she ended it. Robin does not want this divorce," another source added.
"Robin was not blindsided - he knew this was coming out. But he was committed to saving their marriage. He didn't want this.”
The couple are said to working out what's best for their three-year-old son Julian.
Robin, 36, and Paula, 38, had been together since their teenage years and have been open about the passionate loved they shared in past interviews.
Rumours have circulated that Robin's raunchy dance routine with Miley Cyrus at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, where she showed the world her infamous twerking moves, put a huge strain on their union.
One of the main problems was apparently that Paula was unaware of the sexual dance moves, which left her "utterly devastated".
Robin has pulled out of numerous shows since the split news broke, but has assured fans he will be performing in Washington tonight in a Facebook message, which also thanked them for their on-going support.
"I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days. My fans mean everything to me. I’m looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington DC this Thursday, and the rest of the #RobinThickeTour! Looking forward to seeing everyone out there," Robin posted.
