Robin Thicke is apparently determined to prove he's a "good husband".

The Blurred Lines singer married Paula Patton, who he met when he was just 14, in 2005 and they have a son, Julian, together.

Earlier this week the couple released a statement saying they had broken up and yesterday it was claimed Robin tried to save their marriage by cancelling shows to fly to Paula in Canada, so they could talk.

The singer has been criticised for frolicking on stage with 21-year-old Miley Cyrus and seemingly touching a blonde lady's derrière in a picture, but the 36-year-old is allegedly keen to patch things up with the actress.

"Sources connected with the singer tell TMZ... Robin desperately wants to save his marriage," the website writes.

"We're told he wants to convince Paula he can change and be a good husband. The surreptitious a*s-grabbing is a thing of the past."

According to TMZ, Paula, 38, initiated the split on Friday and Robin jumped straight on a plane to see Paula in Canada, despite being scheduled to perform.

It's thought he will resume his shows on Thursday, but it's been claimed he plans not to head out on the town in a bid to show his responsible side.

The couple's son turns four this April and apparently Robin is also concerned about the child's wellbeing.

Sources claim he's unhappy with the idea of Julian being raised between two homes.

Despite gushing about one another in the past, insiders have said Robin and Paula were on the rocks a long time before breaking up.

"Their marriage was unravelling for a long time," an insider told Us Weekly.

"It is not a shock to Robin or Paula, and it is something they have discussed for a long time,” another source divulged.
