BRIT Award nominee Birdy has revealed details of her brand new single ‘Words As Weapons’, which will release on April 14 via Atlantic Records.

The singer will also play the final date of her sold-out European Fire Within Tour at London’s Forum on March 4.

Since releasing her UK top 10 album Fire Within last year, Birdy has been touring the globe, performing her soaring songs to the masses. Speaking about the new single – an emotive, guitar-tinged, ethereal number – Birdy commented - “Words as Weapons is one of my favourite tracks on the album and I love performing it live. I love the way the track is layered with harmonies which creates a wall of sound. I’m hugely proud of the song.”

In addition to the single news, Birdy has become one of the new faces of GAP’s global spring 2014 “Lived-In” advertising campaign (which launched yesterday – 24 Feb), where she is joined by a cast of emerging and talented young artists including musicians, singers, actors and photographers from the US and UK. Birdy is joined by the likes of Anna Calvi, RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad), Julia Garner, Ernest Green and more.

The rising star released her second studio album Fire Within in September 2013, and has since been on the receiving end of critical acclaim. Her previous singles ‘Wings’ (produced by Ryan Tedder) and ‘Light Me Up’ (which she worked on with Rich Costey (Arctic Monkeys, Sigur Ros) and Ryan Tedder (Beyonce)), graced the airwaves of virtually every major radio station in Europe.

Combined, the official videos have received over a whopping 15 million YouTube views and ‘Wings’ even hit the #1 spot in Ireland’s official singles chart. Not only did Fire Within chart at #8 in the official UK album chart, but also spread across the globe and debuted in the Top 10 in 9 different countries.

Birdy’s self-titled, UK gold-certified debut album shot straight to #1 in Australia, Belgium, Holland and France upon its release in 2011 and debuted in the Official Top 20 in the UK. The album featured her unique interpretations of songs by much-loved artists of the singer such as Bon Iver, Cherry Ghost, Phoenix, The National and The xx.

Over her short career, Birdy has demonstrated her global status by performing at London’s Paralympic Opening Ceremony, selling-out three consecutive nights at the Sydney Opera House and performing on huge chat shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Queen Latifah Show.
