Niall Horan is reportedly "exactly the kind of guy" Selena Gomez needs.
The One Direction singer and former Disney star are rumoured to be in the early stages of a romance after they enjoyed a night out in London, UK, earlier this month.
Selena recently confirmed she spent two weeks in rehab in January, seemingly for emotional issues. She is thought to have found her split from Justin Bieber hard, with Niall helping her get back on track.
"It's very early days, but they've been in constant contact since she went back to the States. Niall's exactly the kind of guy she needs right now. He's so sweet, a total gentleman and 100 per cent not a player like Justin turned out to be," an insider told British magazine Heat.
It's claimed that Niall put some feelers out ahead of his meeting with Selena as he has had his eye on her for some time.
"Niall's always fancied Selena, and he's made no secret of it. So when he went to Taylor's gig at The O2 in London on 2 February, he talked to her about setting them up. He's just split from Barbara [Palvin] and Selena's trying to get over Justin [Bieber] so it's perfect timing," the source said.
The pair decided to have a meal together, during which no subject was off limits. That meant they apparently even spoke about their romantic history.
"They spent an hour at dinner talking about everything - Justin, break-ups, the lot," the source claimed.
Selena has previously admitted that being in the public eye has affected her social life. She doesn't like reading rumours about herself and can't help but be careful when she meets new people.
"The hardest part [is] just trying to find someone that will just love the core person and not anything else around it," she told New York Daily News.
