Priscilla Presley would never criticise Miley Cyrus as she reminds her of Elvis Presley.

The ex-wife of Elvis remembers the backlash the King of Rock 'n' Roll often faced, caused by his gyrating hips and stage costumes, including his infamous jump suits.

When asked what she thought of the pop stars of today, such as Miley, Priscilla laughed that Elvis' antics were tame in comparison,

"I don't know what to think of her. I mean I think she's very talented. And I think maybe Miley feels she has to express herself and this is what she needs right now. I can't criticise, I really don't want to criticise because Elvis went through the same thing," Priscilla revealed to ET.

"He had sex appeal, but one of things that bothered him was the fact that when he moved he got reprimanded by not only the public, but by a lot of people from high places who said, 'Oh my god what is this, it's vulgar.' But Elvis was brought up on gospel music and watching them sing and feeling it. It's soulful."

Miley, 21, often hits the headlines for her skimpy costumes and racy dance moves.

Currently on her Bangerz tour, she recently got people talking when she planted a kiss on Katy Perry who was sitting front row for her LA gig on Saturday night.

The pair locked lips in front of the crowds at the Staples Center as fans cheered.

Hilary Duff, Nicole Richie, Christina Aguilera and the Kardashians were all in the crowd to see the smooch.

Those nearby flocked to catch the moment on their camera phones and Katy, who's sung about kissing girls in the past, even uploaded a picture of the aftermath.

"And after! I adore you @MileyCyrus," Katy posted next to a photo.
