Sam Bailey, who stole the hearts of the nation on X Factor, is set to release her debut album The Power Of Love on 24 March 2014 via Syco Music/ Sony Music Entertainment.
The album is a stunning collection of covers and brand new tracks, it is the triumphant soundtrack of a woman who dares to keep on dreaming.
Sam blew away millions of TV viewers on the show and won fans across the board. The Power Of Love will certainly not disappoint, it is an album of big emotional songs all performed with those assured, spine-tingling vocals that set the country on fire.
Every song has a story. Her relationship with her father, who died in 2008, is echoed in a heart-breaking version of the Supertramp forgotten classic, ‘Lord Is It Mine’. Gary Barlow’s support is repaid by a heart-felt version of ‘Get Here’ by Oleta Adams. Even the moment she discovered her voice after her first teenage crush is celebrated with a welcome revisit to Karyn White’s Eighties hit, ‘Superwoman’.
There are two original songs on the album ‘Treasure’ and ‘Compass’, a track which was written for Sam by the extraordinary Grammy award winning veteran songwriter Diane Warren.
Firmly embracing her X-Factor journey, Sam’s number one single, ‘Skyscraper’, appears alongside her triumphant duet, ‘And I Am Telling You’, with Nicole Scherzinger. The album also includes a poignant recording of the inspirational, ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ with the American superstar, Michael Bolton. Sam and Michael recently opened the National Television Awards with a phenomenal performance of the track.
The former prison officer says: “I wanted songs that really meant something to me, a lot of them are songs that have been forgotten or not heard for a long time and I just wanted to bring them back. It’s been amazing but it’s also been incredibly personal.”
Sam is currently headlining the X Factor arena tour which runs until 29 March throughout the UK, she will also support Beyonce on February 24 at Birmingham’s LG Arena.
