Carly Rae Jepsen is living in a "fairytale".

The Call Me Maybe singer is currently taking to stage on Broadway as glass-slippered princess Cinderella.

She's still completely overwhelmed to have been considered for the magical part.

"I'm basically living a Cinderella fairy tale every night," she gushed to teenvogue.com. "I get lost in the character, which I really enjoy after the last two years I've had."

Prior to treading the boards on Broadway, Carly had toured with Justin Bieber and hit number one worldwide with her catchy music.

But it's on the theatre stage where she really feels she belongs.

"One time on tour, my band was going around, revealing our bucket list dreams, and when it was my turn - and I'm not kidding - I said, 'I've always wanted to be in a Broadway show and one day before I die, that's something that has to happen,'" she marvelled.

"It's a total dream come true. When a role like this comes around, you can't say no - you just gotta jump in."

The 28-year-old previously spoke about always having her eye on a stage career.

She also added that Cinderella's rags-to-riches story really struck a chord with her.

"My favourite part of the school year was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theatres," she smiled.

"[Cinderella's story is] so hopeful and inspiring. I've always been one to believe in the impossible, so I relate to her character completely.

Carly is also thought to be working on a new album, which is scheduled to be released at some point this year.
