Britney Spears has apparently "reached out" to her ex-flame Adnan Ghalib.

The pair dated briefly while Britney was facing a very public battle with depression in 2008, which resulted in her being hospitalised.

Britney is now loved up with law firm worker David Lucado.

Adnan, a paparazzi photographer from Afghanistan, was widely regarded as being a bad influence on Britney, but sources say she wants to thank him for helping her out during her dark days.

"Britney recently admitted she loves David and hopes to have his babies. But she's also told Adnan she wants to see him again. While most people paint him as a villain, Britney's reaching out to Adnan. She wants to say thanks for saving her life during that very challenging time," an insider revealed to British magazine Now.

Since her breakdown, which famously saw Britney shave her long hair off and attack photographers with an umbrella, Britney has got her pop career back on track.

She started her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino at the end of December, and released her eighth studio album Britney Jean in late 2013.

Her relationship with David has been credited with helping Britney to find her feet again, and he is often touted as an ordinary guy.

"He’s a simple guy, he’s funny he’s passionate and he gets what I do so it kind of works out," Britney revealed on her documentary I Am Britney Jean.

"This is a big year for me, it’s the first show I’ve done in two years… I am trying to let myself relax a little bit but not too much because I know that I have a lot ahead of me.

"David is really easy going. If I just got him a card, he'd be really happy, something simple like that."
