The first wave of live acts for the third New York Sound City has been revealed with Skepta headlining the evening showcase at The Knitting Factory and joining the daytime conference panel.

The English rapper and Grime veteran will lead “Grime: Ten Years Later” at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on 17 March before taking the stage with an exclusive set that evening at legendary venue The Knitting Factory.

Other artists to join the live bill include PINS – described by The Guardian as “the most Brooklyn band ever to come out of Manchester” – and UK hip-hop outfit Clubs and Spades featuring original Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson.

Skepta commented: “The New York Sound City event is gonna be a hype. Grime has been getting a lot love lately in New York so it'll be good to see what people really know. Definitely gonna drop some new shit off my album in the making (Konnichiwa). The Knitting Factory sound system better not be a fisher price ting.”

The roundtable hosts will also include Andrew Zarick from Digital Dumbo, Terri White from Time Out New York, Seth Hillinger from New York Music Tech, Leslie Hermelin from AstralWerks, Nicola Wild from Creed Management, Corey Roberts from Songs Publishing, Siouxz Zimmerman from Magnum PR, Justin Miller from HAKT Recordings and Richard Sloven, Talent Buyer at The Knitting Factory.

Hot on the heels of SXSW, New York Sound City offers an exciting networking opportunity for the industry, both companies and artists, in one of the most exciting cities in the world.
