Donovan's recording and songwriting career has gone hand-in-hand with his long list of compositions including his biggest hits including Catch the Wind, Colours, Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow, There is a Mountain, Wear Your Love Like Heaven, Hurdy Gurdy Man and Atlantis.

In return, Donovan presented Stern with the very first Donovan Gibson Guitar, a J45 model that he used to write all of his hits.
