Prince surprised all by jumping onto the stage to play two secret gigs in London yesterday.

Rumours has been rampant but finally he played in the intimate setting of singer Lianne La Havas front room. The gig followed a small press conference to announce a series of UK shows with his new female outfit 3RDEYEGIRL.

The purple one said that he plans to charge "about $10" (roughly £6) for tickets.

Playing acoustically Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL previewed two tracks from the forthcoming PLECTRUMELECTRUM album. A fittingly intimate and special location, this was the first in the series of surprise ‘Hit and Run’ shows, with many more exciting events to follow through February.

He then took to the stage of north London's Electric Ballroom with his new all girl three piece, 3RDEYEGIRL, to play songs from the upcoming PLECTRUMELECTRUM album, including the new single PretzelBodyLogic. The 60 minute spontaneous jam session included a phenomenally funky version of Wild Cherry’s ‘Play That Funky Music’.

He described his new songs as "funk 'n' roll".

Prince and his band flew into London early Tuesday with dates a closely guarded secret.

Fans who had followed rumours on twitter were let into the venue last night to enjoy the rare spectacle one commented to Music-News.com "it was the best night of my life. I love Prince so much. He' the one and only!"
