One Direction are reportedly set to launch a chain of coffee shops.

The cafés will be decked out in band memorabilia to give their fans a fun-filled experience.

Insiders close to the British boyband say they have taken inspiration from another global restaurant which was backed by big stars when it launched in the '90s.

"This could become the lads' version of Planet Hollywood. That chain was backed by stars such as Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger when it launched in 1991," a source divulged to Britain's Daily Star newspaper.

"The cafés will be very child friendly for younger fans and they're sure to be stocked up with lots of 1D merchandise."

Reports suggest that the first café will open in the Japanese ward of Shibuya in Tokyo next week, where One Direction have a huge following.

If the shop if successful then more will be opened up worldwide, with London the next city on the list. Locations in New York, Paris, Berlin and Sydney are also being looked into, reports the newspaper.

"It could become one of the group's biggest money-spinners if it takes off. Everything linked to One Direction equates to success at the moment," the insider added.

The paper yesterday reported that the band are on track to earn a billion dollars this year thanks to their 2014 world tour, Where We Are.

Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan will embark on their 88-date stadium tour in April when it kicks off in Colombia.

"It would be amazing for 1D to climb to the very top of the tour league so early in their career," a spokesperson for the band commented.

"That would be a phenomenal testament to the loyalty and support of their fans."
