Bobbi Kristina Brown says her husband "saved her life".

The daughter of late singing legend Whitney Houston married Nick Gordon, who was raised as her stepbrother, in a secret ceremony last month.

Whitney took Nick, 24, in when he was 12 and his relationship with Bobbi has raised some eyebrows, despite the fact they share no blood relatives.

However, the 20-year-old says she would never have gotten through her mother's tragic death in 2012 had it not been for her partner.

"He's saved my life through such an extremely difficult time. I was very, very low at some points. He's been everything for me and that means a lot to me," she explained to British newspaper The Sun.

"If my mother could see me now she would just be so incredibly happy. I can just see her - she'd be running around fussing about the wedding."

Whitney was found in her hotel bathtub in February 2012 and it was ruled she died from "accidental drowning", aged 48.

Bobbi is sure her late mom is smiling down at her and Nick.

"She wanted this," she said.

"She would always be saying to us, 'You guys are going to get married. I already know you're going to get married and have children.'

"But at the time, we really didn't think it was going to happen."

The couple are now planning a big second wedding in the summer as a public declaration of their love.

While they feel at ease with their relationship, Bobbi can understand why some people have reservations.

"Out of nowhere, we fell madly in love with each other," she admitted.

"It took us completely by surprise, just like Mom's death did. Before then, we had lived as best friends, as brother and sister."
