Rita Ora’s "ego" stopped her from going to the Grammys in previous years.

The Hot Right Now singer attended the awards show for the first time on Sunday, and said she only went as she had a reason to.

Stepping onto the red carpet at the event with Calvin Harris the pair looked like they were back together following a reported brief split.

Rita, 23, cited one of her reasons for going was to support her "partner" who was nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album with 18 Months. He lost out to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.

"The Grammys were really nervous because that was the first timed I'd ever been. I have an ego you see, I didn't want to go unless I had something to do there, or a nomination. Any musician I think would want something. But I went to support a partner and to explore it really," Rita told Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw.

"And I was kind of incognito; I don't know if you noticed, I was kind of in the background. It was really interesting to see everybody, and bumping into 30 Seconds to Mars, who I had the honour of meeting, and kind of working with almost. And just getting to see everybody in real life. I bumped into Smokey Robinson, he's like a legend. Beyoncé was probably the best performance. And Pink, because you know she can fly!"

Rita was on the radio show as she's been announced as one of the performers at this year's Radio 1's Big Weekend, an annual festival put on by the station.

This year it will be held in Glasgow on May 24-25. Paolo Nutini has also been unveiled as one of the confirmed artists.
"Confetti, glitter, donkeys, unicorns, clowns..." laughed Rita, when she described what she wanted her set to include.
