Austin Mahone says he and Selena Gomez are “just friends”.
There have been rumours for weeks now that he and Selena are secretly dating.
But Austin insists there is nothing romantic going on whatsoever.
"Were just friends," he told People magazine. "She's really cool … I mean, I think she's really pretty but every time I'm in L.A., she's like, 'Hey you're in L.A., lets hang out.’ So it's cool.”
Another source believes that just because Austin and Selena aren’t official, doesn’t mean nothing is going on. Apparently they might be in a grey area where they aren’t just friends but are not in a relationship either.
"Maybe they are more than just friends but they are certainly not dating," said the source. "They've been hanging out over the last few months. They have a lot of respect for each other."
Austin has certainly never avoided talking about Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend, confirming their friendship last week at a Grammy event.
"We're super close friends. She has some new music coming out. She showed me some of her music and it's incredible," he said.
Selena has admitted she doesn’t have the easiest time when it comes to her love life. The 21-year-old says Katy Perry has been a huge help in terms of guidance and support regarding how to handle relationships.
“I actually talked to her about guys who are intimidated by strong girls,” she told Seventeen magazine. “I haven’t found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it.”
