Ed Sheeran says Pharrell Williams is a “humble guy”.

The British singer met the music producer backstage at the Grammy Awards after he helped pick up four awards from his collaboration with Daft Punk.

And Ed was impressed by how down to earth the former N.E.R.D singer is.

“We had fun, he's a nice guy," the 22-year-old told ET Online. "He's such a humble guy. He doesn't really take compliments. He just brushes them off and kind of carries on talking about stuff."

Pharrell is someone who has been receiving a lot of compliments recently.

As well as his Grammy wins, he has also been nominated in the Best Original Song category at this year’s Oscars for his track Happy, which is from the film Despicable Me 2.

But the 40-year-old revealed during an interview with Access Hollywood that the nomination had left him in an extreme state of shock.

“I said thank you first and then I was like, no offence to anyone, but I was kind of like catatonic for like 20 minutes,” he recalled.

And once again the star showed the down to earth quality Ed had seen at the Grammys by saying it was his fans who had brought him the success.

He added he was humbled by the positive reaction the song had received.

“The thing is it’s not my doing. You know, I did the song… And when you look at all the views and you look at all the purchases and the shares and the requests, those are the people,” Pharrell mused.

“That’s how you quantify success, is by what the people put into it. And so the people did these things for me so… I’m very thankful. I’m humbled by it.”
