Katy Perry prayed for big breasts when she was growing up.
The 29-year-old singer is proud of her curves and shows them off in a low-cut bathing suit on the cover of America's GQ magazine. She hasn't always had such ample assets though and was happy to share the body hang-ups she obsessed over as a teenager in the accompanying interview.
"I laid on my back one night and looked down at my feet, and I prayed to God. I said, 'God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can’t see my feet when I’m lying down?' God answered my prayers. I had no clue they would fall into my armpits eventually," she laughed to the publication.
"I’ve never had any plastic surgery. Not a nose, not a chin, not a cheek, not a t*t. So my messages of self-empowerment are truly coming from an au naturel product.”
Katy touched on many different subjects during the interview and was happy to discuss some of her beliefs. She grew up in a Christian household and still has faith, but doesn't believe in heaven and hell as "destinations".
More unconventionally, the star chatted about extra-terrestrials.
"I see everything through a spiritual lens. I believe in a lot of astrology. I believe in aliens. I look up into the stars and I imagine: How self-important are we to think that we are the only life-form?" she queried. "I mean, if my relationship with [US President Barack] Obama gets any better, I’m going to ask him that question. It just hasn’t been appropriate yet."
Katy explained she doesn't smoke marijuana, although not for the reason some would expect.
"The weed - I’m not friends with it," she said. "I can’t do that stuff. I’d be like in the corner: ‘Are you trying to kill me?!'"
She also touched on her relationships, revealing she lost her virginity in a Volvo Sedan when she was 16. She again explained that her ex-husband Russell Brand never visited her when she was on her California Dreams Tour. He eventually informed her he was filing for divorce via text message, just over a year after they wed.
Now she is with John Mayer and attempted to explain why their romance has been on/off.
"I think that I needed to grow up," she explained of their temporary split last year. “I’m just having a wonderful experience with a wonderful guy. There’s no rush.”
