The three original members of one of the most commercially successful reggae acts of all time - UB40 - are announcing that they have reformed and are in the studio to record a new album.

The following statement is being posted on their new website www.ub40.org as we speak. I thought this may be of interest for the website.

‘The three founding members have reformed and reunited to bring you the true sound of UB40. Ali, Astro and Mickey are currently in the studio working on a new album…more info soon :)

By way of a brief history, UB40’s founder and frontman Ali Campbell and keyboardist Mickey Virtue left the original lineup in 2008. Then, in November 2013, founding member Astro, the other lead vocalist, announced he was leaving what remained of the lineup.

Astro then joined Ali and Mickey to play a gig at the IndigO2 on December 6th. Astro has now rejoined Ali and Mickey, bringing the three founding members back together, performing and recording as UB40 once more.

Best known for their international hits ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, UB40 have sold over 70 million records. Formed in 1979 in Birmingham, the band’s initial line-up lasted for 30 years until the 2008 departure of Campbell and Virtue.
