Australian born entertainer Rolf Harris has plead not guilty in a British court to twelve charges of sexual assault against a minor.
Harris, 83, appeared before Justice Sweeney in Southwark Crown Court to answer to the charges which were read in public for the first time. Those charges are:
Six charges of indecent assault against a 15 year old girl from April 1980 to April 1981
One charge against the same girl in 1984 when she was 19
Three charges of indecent assault against a 14 year old girl in May 1986
One charge of indecent assault against a 7 or 8 year old girl in 1968
Once charge of indecent assault against a 14 year old girl in 1975
Additional charges of obtaining indecent images are still pending.
Harris firmly said “not guilty” after each of the charges was read.
His trial is scheduled to begin on April 30 and he is free on bond until that time with the stipulation that he have no contact with witnesses, no contact with anyone under the age of 18 unless accompanied by someone over 21, and he must live at his home residence.
