Ed Sheeran appears to have revealed the title to his sophomore album.

The 22-year-old singer has been working with producer Rick Rubin on a follow-up to his 2011 debut, +.
And fans are now abuzz Ed has decided on an equally simple title for the second album, after tweeting “=” on Monday.

"@edsheeran: =" PLS BE NEW ALBUM NAME," one of his more than eight million followers responded, reports MTV News.

" IS THIS NEW ALBUM NAME MY FACE COULD FALL OFF," another wrote.

"@edsheeran: =" I KNEW IT OH MY GOD,” one fan insisted.

At press time, Ed had yet to say more about the mysterious tweet.

The English pop star recently opened up about the challenge of choosing tracks for the record, and credited Rick Rubin with breathing life into the project.

According to the musician, Rick helped him get excited about the creative process and inspired him to try new things.

"He re-energised me to be excited about the album again,” Ed told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe earlier this month.

"[It was] coming at the songs from a different direction and making sure they had the live vibe as well as the actual song craft."

Ed recently announced a UK arena tour for October 2014.

He will play 12 shows in total, kickstarting in Dublin on October 6 and wrapping up the trek in Glasgow on October 30.
