Ed Sheeran thought it would be boring to feature Taylor Swift on his new album.

The Lego House singer joined forces with Taylor on track Everything Has Changed, but feared his fans would get fed up if they made it a regular occurrence.

Ed's been working hard on his follow-up record to his smash hit breakthrough + in 2011.

"I didn't work with Taylor on the album purely for the fact that we've done that already," Ed told British radio station Capital. "We've already done a song and I don't know if that would surprise anyone if that happened.

"We've always going to perform together, we're always going to write together [and] we're always going to hang out. I just felt for this record I wanted to make a record that would surprise people and keep them intrigued."

The redheaded singer has previously admitted that he sends his new material to Taylor, and trusts the country star's opinion on what songs should make the cut for his new album.

This is a partnership that works well for both parties and 22-year-old Ed's not ruling out future collaborations; but now isn't the right time he concedes.

"I've already done a song with Taylor within the last two years so I don't know if anyone would be too shocked by that," he continued.

Ed announced earlier this week that he'll be kicking off a 12-date UK arena tour, which starts in Dublin on October 6.
