Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes broke up "a few weeks ago", according to a new report.

The 20-year-old singers began dating in August and have been rocked by split rumours in recent weeks.

But according to US Weekly, the pair's romance has fizzled out amid the allegations.

"They just weren't into it anymore," a source said.

Another insider close to The Wanted star said the couple "hardly ever saw each other" and needed some time apart.

Ariana inadvertently sparked split rumours earlier this month when the host of Florida's 93.3 radio show confused Nathan for his girlfriend's ex, Jai Brooks.

"You're a little behind. We're really good friends," she said.

Fans assumed The Way singer was talking about Nathan, and break-up reports surged across the internet.

The synopsis on the 93.3 website, as well as a tweet reporting the split, has since been deleted.

Nathan meanwhile appeared to respond to the gossip via a cryptic tweet.

"Don't even know what to say ...hiiiiiiiiiiiiii," he wrote.

"Ooooo I know what to say! Don't believe anything until you hear it from me or one of the boys. Everyyyoneee calmmmmm doooowwwwnnnnn (sic)."

The Wanted are meanwhile taking some time off after cancelling their European tour dates after "unforeseeable changes" in scheduling.

The news came after Nathan's bandmate Max George had to drop out of US shows due to "family matters".

"To let all our #TWFanmily know, @MaxTheWanted headed home to attend some family matters & won't be with us for the rest of the trip," a message informed fans on The Wanted's official Twitter page.

"Thank you so much for all your lovely tweets and messages of support for @MaxTheWanted we know he really appreciates it. x."

Ariana has been focused on her work as well.

"Can't decide what I want my next single to be....... I can't make up my mind (sic)," she recently tweeted.
