Selena Gomez reportedly cancelled tour dates after her family advised her she needed therapy.

The singer announced she would not be performing in Australia and Asia for her Stars Dance Tour last week. She had been preparing to take to the stage next year, but told fans she was shelving the dates in order to spend some time on herself.

It’s now been claimed that her split from Justin Bieber is just one of the reasons behind her decision.

“Dealing with her breakup from Justin has still been affecting her and she’s been in a bit of a bad place recently,” a source told RadarOnline.

“Her family stepped in and basically advised her to either go to therapy or stay with them so they could watch over her. Her team agreed that family time would be best.”

Selena and Justin first split around a year ago after he was accused of flirting with models at the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. There was a period when they were still spending time together but they have now gone their separate ways, although Justin recently admitted he still loves his ex.

Although Selena hasn’t specified why she cancelled her show dates, she told fans that having put work first for so long she felt the need for a change.

As well as spending time with her loved ones, the 21-year-old singer is turning to her pals.

“Selena has plans to hang out a lot in the coming weeks with close friends like Taylor Swift,” the source said.

“Taylor has been a really good support system for Selena in recent weeks.”

Signs all was not well with Selena began earlier this month at KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2013, when she was heard muttering profanities on stage as the sound wasn’t working properly.
