Iggy Pop turns radio DJ to present his own show on BBC Radio 6 Music from 1-3pm on Christmas Day.

In the show he explores music under the theme of Rockin’ Rebels – it’s going to be a great soundtrack to your Christmas lunch! Iggy expertly guides listeners through a selection of artists he deems to be Rockin’ Rebels, with music ranging from Bruce Channel to Jessie Hill, Bukka White to Duane Eddy.

Iggy offers up quirky stories of the band’s formative years, including details of his personal outrage at being named Iggy Stooge against his will by their PR company: ‘The company called me Iggy Stooge because they thought it would cement their marketing plan… when I turned the record over and saw that I was Iggy Stooge, I thought I was going to die!’

The combination of iconic rock and blues tracks alongside Iggy’s distinctively gravelly voice will be a delight for 6 Music listeners, and the tales Iggy has to tell about the tracks he’s picked provide a deep insight to his younger years and career that fans cannot afford to miss.

Iggy Pop’s Radio Show returns for a second instalment on New Year’s Day, 1-3pm, when the theme will be heartbreak and heartache as Iggy looks at those artists who've taken this uncomfortable experience and made it into aural art. We’re talking about giants of the genre, such as George Jones, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra.
