Kelly Clarkson and her fiancé have decided not to host a formal wedding.

The 31-year-old songstress and her music manager beau Brandon Blackstock were originally due to tie the knot at their Nashville, Tennessee home in October.

But now plans have changed as the couple are simply too exhausted to plan excessive nuptials.

“We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, 'So, we change our minds and we want to elope.' We just got so overwhelmed by it – all the decisions,” she told People magazine.

"Then honestly the planning – I have a Christmas record coming out.”

The singer is teaming up with an insurance company to educate kids about safe driving and feels run down by that as well as other tasks.

“I'm doing a bunch of stuff with State Farm right now. We have two kids who just started school,” Kelly continued. “We're going to all these football games and soccer games and volleyball games and [Brandon]'s got one of the biggest artists [Blake Shelton] in country music. He's flying everywhere."

Kelly and Brandon have decided that throwing an extravagant affair to celebrate their union isn’t necessary.

The original American Idol winner believes everything they do together is a festive experience.

"Our whole life is a celebration," Kelly gushed. "That's what we kept laughing about. We don't need another day where we throw a big party. Our lives are so in the spotlight all the time. Everything is such a spectacle, we were like, 'We would rather have an intimate moment that's special.' "

Kelly’s forthcoming Christmas album Wrapped in Red will reach shelves at the end of October.
