Michael Jackson reportedly wanted to portray Iron Man.
The late King of Pop apparently had plans to open his own film studio so he could land the part of the comic book hero.
However the star missed his opportunity to play a Marvels character when he was plagued by scandalous child abuse allegations in the 1990s.
“He saw himself as leading men in these films, and especially felt Iron Man was a possibility as he felt he was similar to Tony Stark - an enigma, mastermind and at the same time childlike,” a source told British newspaper the Daily Mirror.
“We never knew how fans would react to it as Stark was always a white character, but Michael always loved to break boundaries.
“However after the Jordie Chandler sex case, some of his backers and his focus switched away from that.”
Michael’s former manager, Dieter Weisner, confirmed the performer wanted to buy Universal Pictures.
The company owned Marvel at the time.
“Michael was a visionary in the sense of how he knew that the Marvel universe’s superheroes were hit movies waiting to be made,” a family insider continued.
“Michael always thought his next step after his music comeback was to head back into movies. He had moderate success with Moonwalker, and obviously the Thriller music video was a winner.”
While the star tried to save his reputation during numerous legal battles Disney purchased the film rights.
The motion picture franchise now stars Robert Downey Jr. in the part.
“Disney ended up buying Marvel and doing exactly what Michael had predicted, and making a fortune at it,” Dieter shared.
“That was the second part of his life. He did want to do this. And he knew exactly every single detail, what he wants to do. And he was absolutely right.”
Michael passed away four years ago after overdosing on anesthetic propofol.
