Haim presented “classy” Rihanna with pink champagne.

The band, which consists of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim and drummer Dash Hutton, has been supporting the Barbadian singer on selected dates of the European leg of her Diamonds World Tour.

Describing the opening gigs as “utter chaos”, the girls revealed the gift they gave Rihanna when they first met her.

"We did bring her a pink bottle of champagne," Este said to MTV News, with Alana adding: "We kept it classy!"

The band has so far released catchy hits such as Falling and Don’t Save Me.

While Haim may now be a household name, the girls originally had other plans.

"We were gonna call our band Wet Blanket, so it really covers all bases — you really know what we're about," Este joked of the low-key group.

So far, the group has released EPs Forever and iTunes Festival: London 2012.

They have been working on their first proper record and admit it’s a daunting task.

"I think we put enough pressure on ourselves. I think we just wanted… to make the best thing possible, that was the goal, was just to make sure that we were 150 per cent in love with what we made. And that's why I think it's taking time,” she explained.

"We had a lot of fun making it, so I hope that comes through when people hear it.

"We're touring while [the album is] getting mixed and then, hopefully, when it comes out people will enjoy it.”
