Black Sabbath founder Tony Iommi has donated his old guitar strings to Wear Your Music, a charity that turns the strings into jewellery.
Wear Your Music donated proceeds from its sales to the Nordoff-Robbins charity. Nordoff-Robbins. The charity was created in 1958 to use music as a therapy to help children with learning disabilities.
Iommi’s stings are being made into bracelets and necklaces.
At Wear Your Music we learn, “Tony Iommi is frequently referred to as the inventor of heavy metal with his trademark riffs powering the legendary Black Sabbath. Having sliced off the ends of three fingers in a factory accident when first starting out Tony switched to very light gauge strings. These make his bracelet especially unique”.
The Tony Iommi guitar string bracelets sell for $US100-$200.
Black Sabbath will release their new album ‘13’ next week. It will be the first Black Sabbath album since ‘Forbidden’ in 1995 and first with Ozzy Osbourne since ‘Never Say Die’ in 1978.
