Demi Lovato would wear a comedy moustache in public.

The singer is currently promoting her new single Heart Attack and her self-titled fourth album.

Although she has an army of adoring fans she doesn't have to hide too much when she goes out, but would consider a comedy disguise for the right price.

"I don't have to wear a disguise, but I don't want to say, 'Hey look at me!' I would wear a comedy moustache if you paid me..." she laughed to BBC Radio 1.

"For the most part I like to have a chilled, normal exterior. I can do normal things like grocery shopping, but it's a matter of I can't do it as often as I would like to."

The 20-year-old appears on The X Factor US panel alongside Simon Cowell and new judges Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio who have replaced L.A. Reid and Britney Spears.

For the new season, seating arrangements on the judging panel have been changed around and Demi jokingly revealed why.

"[Simon] smells so I'm just like, 'I don't really wanna sit next to you.' He smells like money, cigarettes and mint and it's not my favourite!" she quipped.

"No, we just changed it up 'cause it would be different. I like it, it balances everything out. Yes, that's why I'm on the panel, 'cause I tell [Simon] off!"

In 2010 Demi took some time out from her career to check into rehab for "physical and emotional issues".

The star is now feeling much better and feels it's brought her closer to her fans.

"They really do they have this genuine quality about them that makes the bond between us feel really real; It's an awesome experience when I get to share everything I do," she smiled.

"Whenever I've struggled and when I've thought about going back to old habits I have contemplated, 'What am I doing here, do I have a problem?' And then I think of my fans and I stay strong for them."
