George Michael has been released from the hospital after his recent car accident. His site posted the news:

We can confirm that George Michael has been discharged from hospital and continues to rest and recuperate. He is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support.
The site had originally reported that he had been in an accident on May 17, stating that he was being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is "fine." Eleven days later, he is released, which has led to speculation as to how severe his injuries actually were.

The original reports on the accident had him in a car that flipped, but it later came out that he fell out of the car while it was going 70 MPH. Eyewitnesses stated that he appeared OK but was in shock right after the incident.

While there have been no direct statements on why his hospital stay lasted for eleven days, it could be theorized that he was being observed for head and internal injuries if those didn't actually occur and were being treated.

This is the second serious medical situation for Michael within a year. In late 2012, he was hospitalized in Austria during a tour after developing pneumonia which became so serious that there was some question of his survival.
