Katy Perry insists she's "a lover not a hater".

The pop songstress came under fire from rapper Chief Keef after slamming his song Hate Bein' Sober, which also features 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa.

The brunette took to Twitter earlier this week to vent: "Just heard a new song on the radio called ‘I hate being sober’ I now have serious doubt for the world (sic)".

Chief responded in an angry manner, calling Katy a "b***h" and threatening to "slap" her, but the Firework singer apologised rather than taking the bait.

"Believe me, I'm a lover not a hater. x" she wrote to her followers.

"Mr. Keef! I'm sorry if I offended you. I heard a lot of people guesting on the song & didn't even know it was you in particular (sic)."

Katy went on to clarify that she enjoys some of his other tracks.

The star says her opinions were based more on society's general attitude towards consuming alcohol.

"I'm a fan of your ‘Don't Like’ video tbh. I was really just having a general opinion on our generations desire to be constantly intoxicated (sic),"

It seems the musicians have buried the hatchet, with Chief retweeting Katy's apology.

The rapper seemed ready to take some time out from social networking after the heated exchange, telling his followers: "Bye twitter (sic)."

However, his next post followed shortly after.
