Jennifer Love Hewitt is reportedly being lined up for The X Factor US judging panel.

The Client List actress has apparently caught the eye of talent show boss Simon Cowell.

Simon is said to be after the 34-year-old as a possible replacement for Britney Spears and L.A. Reid, joining him and Demi Lovato on the panel.

"Simon is very interested," revealed an insider to Us Weekly.

Jennifer’s potential signing comes after L.A. and Britney both departed after season two of the series.

It is thought that Simon, who is the creator of the world-wide hit contest, feels she would be the ideal person to join the third season.

Jennifer has had musical success herself previously. The former pop star charted with her track BareNaked in 2002.

Other potential candidates for the panel include Kelly Rowland, who is rumoured to be close to signing up for the show.

Kelly has previously appeared on the UK version of The X Factor, and a friend of the star’s reassured the publication she is still the hot favourite.

"Kelly's nearly a done deal!" the friend exclaimed.

A representative for the Fox network series denied reports Jennifer is in the running.

“This is pure speculation,” they stated.

Meanwhile the hosts for the upcoming third season are also due a shake up after it was confirmed Khloé Kardashian would not be returning to present with Mario Lopez.
