Miguel has had a "huge crush" on Mariah Carey since seeing her emerge from a pool in her Honey promo.

The R&B singer and Mariah are rumoured to be collaborating on new music together. Despite tweeting each other about the supposed project, Miguel has remained tight-lipped on the subject.

The 27-year-old star does know however, that a collaboration with the singing beauty would create wonderful results.

"I think it would sound beautiful. I think it's a great juxtaposition," he shared with MTV News when asked what the collaboration would sound like.

"I mean I fell in love with Mariah Carey when she walked out of the pool in [the Honey video in 1997]. That Honey video; that was it. And I've had a huge crush on her ever since. And, so, if we ever do have a chance, you know all respect to [Carey's husband] Nick [Cannon], all love. I think I have a huge crush more on her as a musician, and I think it would be really great."

Speculation about the collaboration started earlier this month when Mariah tweeted about Miguel's SNL appearance, telling her followers that she had run into the star in the studio.

Earlier this week, sound engineer Fletcher Allison added fuel to the fire when he posted: "Working on a Mariah Carey + Miguel video for the man Joseph Kahn. Wouldn't trade this for 1,000 Coachellas (sic)."

He has since deleted the post.

Miguel also tweeted the same day, leaving fans wondering if the posts are related.

Taking to the social networking site, he shared: "Lets do that again sometime. MOMENTS. So appreciative (sic)."

Despite the speculation, Miguel still remains perplexed about the reports.

"Rumour mills? I don't know why fans would put that together. I don't know," he smiled.
